Arizona Science Center\u2019s Dorrance DOME offers a \u201cKPop Demon Hunters\u201d immersive experience with graphics and music.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Located inside the Arizona Science Center, the Dorrance DOME is an immersive digital dome where science blends with art, health and wellness and live performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The space, which opened in October 2025, has 200 premiums seats, a 60-foot LED dome with over 9,000 panels and 44 million LED lights delivered in 8K+ resolution.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4, the dome will host a special Art 360 event centered around the popular anime film \u201cKPop Demon Hunters.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The LED dome will come alive with music and projections inspired by the film. This will not be a screening of the film but instead an immersive experience where songs such as \u201cGolden,\u201d \u201cTakedown\u201d and \u201cHow It\u2019s Done\u201d are synced to the graphics.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can think of it as the world’s largest fan-made music video set to \u2018KPop Demon Hunters\u2019 in 8K-plus resolution, with vibrant visuals that move fast onscreen,\u201d said Alec Warren, director of the Dorrance DOME Experiences and Planetarium.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Warren said these visuals were created in-house by their staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a three-to-four-month period where we’re creating visuals for the set of songs that we want to bring to life in the dome,\u201d Warren said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The \u201cKPop Demon Hunters\u201d event is the first they have offered in their Art 360 series. It has been popular, especially among families with children.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s basically a sing along and a dance along that we debuted in early November\u2026 What we have found is that while it is a show in the sense that you’re watching it, our audiences love to get up and dance too, especially the kids who are fans of \u2018KPop Demon Hunters.\u2019 That\u2019s really what the experience has become. It\u2019s part show, and it\u2019s part dance experience, where people can enjoy the music and enjoy the visuals in their own way together. It\u2019s a really great communal experience that we’ve been able to create here through that show,\u201d Warren said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Warren said they are currently working on other Art 360 experiences centered around other popular artists, such as Bad Bunny.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want this to be a recurring series that has a little something for everybody, regardless of what genre of music or what famous artist you’re into\u2026. We’re going to be introducing different artists and different genres. Some of those may more adult oriented or more young-adult oriented. Some of those many be more family-oriented. We\u2019re going to look to diversify our programming. It was great to have \u2018KPop Demon Hunters\u2019 as a kickoff for the series because it really does tap into that core audience for us,\u201d Warren said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Warren said the Art 360 series highlights the technologies available at the dome.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe contrast of the images is 10 times the contrast of a typical projection image, like an IMAX image. The resolution is 8K to 10K resolution, depending on what we’re showing. The images and the videos in our dome are almost true to life. There are times where your eyes can’t tell the difference between the image on screen and the real thing. That\u2019s part of the magic of our technology that we have here. Because of that clarity of image, we’re able to really transport you to places,\u201d Warren said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Art 360 series also includes events such as Sip \u2018n Paint nights. The dome hosts yoga and sound healing events as part of their \u201cMindful Moment\u201d series.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Along with special events, Dorrance DOME offers other immersive shows during daytime hours. Warren said these shows were designed for different audiences.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe serve daytime audiences, which is the general public that comes to the science center day-to-day. A lot of that programming is dedicated towards space sciences, astronomy and the life sciences. School audiences are another big audience for us. That\u2019s students coming on field trips with teachers. That programming is more science-focused. And then our after-hours programming is where we get very creative with the types of experiences that we bring into the dome. In addition to Art 360, we do yoga in the dome. We do sound healing. We’ve also done seated dinners. We do wine tastings as well\u2026The first four front rows of our dome are actually removable. We can take out 88 of our seats to create this massive stage area where we can do things like yoga or set up tables for painting\u2026 We guide folks through the sit-down Sip \u2018n Paint, and we actually turn the entire dome into the subject that folks are trying to paint on their canvases,\u201d Warren said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While at the science center, visitors can also explore other offerings.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The space has 300 hands-on exhibits, a 5-story, giant-screen theater, live demonstrations, Science with a TWIST events for adults, traveling exhibits and STEM programs for different age groups.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On Thursday, April 2, and Friday, April 10, the museum will host special after-hours viewings of \u201cPompeii: The Exhibition\u201d from 5 to 9 pm. The touring exhibit tells the story of Pompeii before and after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and features over 150 artifacts, including frescoes, mosaics and statues.<\/p>\n
