<\/p>\nAn unlikely figure became a victim during one of several teen takeovers this past weekend in Chicago. <\/p>\n
His name is “Truffles,” and he has been the mascot at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory stores for more than 40 years.<\/p>\n
One might say he\u2019s irresistible.<\/p>\n
That certainly appeared to be the case on Friday night, at the brand new State and Madison chocolate store location, when a group of teens ran off with the bear during a teen takeover in the Loop.<\/p>\n
“A couple guys jumped in, saw them outside, grabbed our bear, ‘Truffles,’ and took him for a ride,” said Tyson Minnick, the owner of the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory store.<\/p>\n
That ride took Truffles on the CTA Red Line. <\/p>\n

Chicago police said his alleged captors, a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old old, were arrested for felony theft and cited for trespassing – for riding the CTA without paying.<\/p>\n
After being recovered by Chicago police, video showed “Truffles” taking up the entire front seat of a squad vehicle.<\/p>\n
“It was alarming not gonna lie, to have a couple people jump in,” Minnick said. “Five to six customers in the store.”<\/p>\n
“Truffles” was gone less than an hour, and he likely won’t be going anywhere soon.<\/p>\n
“He is strapped down,” Minnick said. “Now if they take ‘Truffles,’ they\u2019ll have to take the chair.”<\/p>\n
The owner said on Monday, a dozen people stopped by just to take a picture of the bear following his wild ride.<\/p>\n
“Talk about a silver lining,” NBC Chicago’s Natalie Martinez said.<\/p>\n
“For sure, we made lemonade out of lemons,” Minnick said. <\/p>\n
The incident happened just hours before a separate “teen takeover” in the South Loop. Video posted on the Citizen app showed a group of teens, with cars whizzing dangerously close to pedestrians.<\/p>\n
