On Sunday, April 5, the OWL Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society<\/a> shared that they rescued two eagles after they landed on a neighborhood power line while embroiled in a talon-locking battle in Surrey, England, near the intersection of 85 Avenue and 123 Street.<\/p>\n In photos and videos of the rescue mission, the two birds could be seen dangling upside down with their talons completely tangled up in a mess of power lines.<\/p>\n Once a group of three rescuers made their way up to where the birds were stuck, with the help of Surrey Fire Services, they were able to carefully free the eagles and watch them both fly off in different directions.<\/p>\n \u201cLuckily, they suffered no serious injuries and were able to fly off immediately,\u201d the organization wrote on Facebook<\/a>. \u201cThis time of year, they are fighting to protect their nests or their young, and this was the best possible outcome to go back to their respective babies.\u201d<\/p>\n The electric company B.C. Hydro said in a statement to the CBC<\/a> that its crew was notified of the problem that day, after which they \u201cquickly de-energized the line to support a safe rescue.\u201d<\/p>\n “Once their talons were separated, both eagles took off right away \u2014 uninjured,\u201d B.C. Hydro told the outlet.<\/p>\n Following the rescue, Rob Hope \u2014 manager of the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society, which is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of raptors \u2014 told CTV News<\/a> that fights among eagles are quite common as mating season approaches.<\/p>\n
