{"id":714703,"date":"2026-04-09T02:08:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T02:08:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/714703\/"},"modified":"2026-04-09T02:08:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T02:08:17","slug":"homemade-bomb-containing-screws-discovered-during-sherwood-park-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/714703\/","title":{"rendered":"Homemade bomb containing screws discovered during Sherwood Park arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\tDescrease article font size<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tIncrease article font size<\/p>\n<p>The bomb squad was called in after Strathcona County RCMP pulled over a car in <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/sherwood-park\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sherwood Park<\/a> with a mismatching plate, only to find weapons and an <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/improvised-explosive-device\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">improvised explosive device<\/a> inside.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The discovery happened Tuesday afternoon, around 1:30 p.m. Mounties were patrolling in Sherwood Park, checking licence plates in a parking lot off Pembina Road and Broadmoor Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p>Police ran the plate of a Buick Verano and determined it was not only a match to the car, but was also not to be put on a registered motor vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>A traffic stop was initiated, during which police spotted bear mace inside the Buick, whose driver was allegedly attempting to conceal down the side of the driver\u2019s seat what was later determined to be a knife.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/national.jpg\" alt=\"Get breaking Canada news delivered to your inbox as it happens so you won't miss a trending story.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tGet breaking National news<\/p>\n<p>Get breaking Canada news delivered to your inbox as it happens so you won&#8217;t miss a trending story.<\/p>\n<p>RCMP arrested the driver and began a more through search of the car.
