Shutterstock \/ trekandshoot<\/p>\n<p>Emergency crews rushed to the scene after someone attempted to wake him and discovered he was no longer breathing.<\/p>\n<p>During the emergency response, the child\u2019s father allegedly made a disturbing statement to paramedics, saying he hoped the boy <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/03\/10\/health\/sex-hormones-may-be-behind-higher-opioid-deaths-among-men\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cdid not get into his fentanyl,\u201d<\/a> law enforcement sources told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/investigations\/toddlers-death-in-porter-ranch-investigated-as-possible-fentanyl-exposure\/3873729\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">NBC4<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The boy was taken to a hospital on Friday, April 3 in what officials described as \u201cgrave\u201d condition. He later died.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened at a residence near Rinaldi Street and Wilbur Avenue. Google Street View<\/p>\n<p>Investigators searching the home reportedly uncovered drug paraphernalia along with what sources described as \u201cevidence of drug use,\u201d raising further concerns about the circumstances surrounding the boy\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner is currently conducting lab tests to determine the exact cause of death, according to its case tracking system.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear where the father left his fentanyl.
