And Brito is dead.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s tragic for both men. <\/p>\n<p>And absolutely nuts.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tMore From\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPost Editorial Board<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s thanks, mostly, to New York\u2019s refusal to slap meaningful consequences on shoplifters like Brito and get them off the streets \u2014 and to pro-criminal district attorneys, like Manhattan\u2019s Alvin Bragg, who target victims while bending over backward to let perps slide.<\/p>\n<p>Brito, after all, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/07\/07\/serial-shoplifter-fatally-stabbed-by-cvs-employee-busted-stealing-days-before-death\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">had been nabbed <\/a>more than a dozen times and was a known drugstore thief in the area.
