{"id":717137,"date":"2026-04-10T02:40:18","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T02:40:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/717137\/"},"modified":"2026-04-10T02:40:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T02:40:18","slug":"man-charged-after-1-1-million-of-diesel-fuel-allegedly-stolen-from-unmanned-queensland-depots-over-12-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/717137\/","title":{"rendered":"Man charged after $1.1 million of diesel fuel allegedly stolen from unmanned Queensland depots over 12 months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A man has been charged with stealing more than a million dollars worth of diesel from unmanned depots in south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Police allege the 48-year-old man used stolen fuel cards to obtain $1.1 million worth of fuel from depots in Parkinson, Bundamba and Karawatha over a 12 month period between December 2024 and December 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A search of a property at Greenbank in March recovered stolen property and a homemade taser, Queensland Police said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The man has been charged with seven offences including two counts of fraud and two of receiving tainted property.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The alleged thefts occurred before a recent surge in fuel prices due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in late February as the US and Israel waged war on Iran.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"petrol prices\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/69810f9ffab13f0b4e6ce60eb85e7f1a.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Fuel prices have surged since the US and Israel attacked Iran in late February. (ABC News: Jak Rowland)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">On the week ending April 5, the average retail price of diesel hit 312.7 cents per litre according to the latest figures from the Australian Institute of Petroleum.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Queensland Police issued a warning on Friday that theft of any amount of fuel would not be tolerated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Whether it&#8217;s one tank of fuel or a large-scale diesel fraud, stealing is an offence which can land you before the court,&#8221; South Brisbane District Centenary Crime Group Acting Detective Inspector Justin Anderson said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The man first appeared in court on March 25 has been remanded in custody.
