CHICAGO (WLS) — Friday morning marked the second time someone targeted a South Side firehouse this week.<\/p>\n

A union rep told ABC7 that a man wielding an ax damaged seven personal vehicles in the Englewood neighborhood. About 12 vehicles were torn up earlier this week at a separate firehouse.<\/p>\n

Vehicle after vehicle parked in front of the fire station at East 59th and South State streets could be seen with ax markings slashed into their doors and windows early Friday.<\/p>\n

“There’s some gaping holes in the cars caused by this ax,” said Chicago Fire Department member and Chicago Firefighters Union representative Patrick Quane.<\/p>\n

Quane said a man allegedly targeted firefighters’ personal vehicles at random.<\/p>\n

“We come to work to do our job, and we’re here for the citizens of Chicago, and now, somebody’s obviously out to get us and cause harm, which is very disheartening to our members,” Quane said.<\/p>\n

Twelve other member vehicles were also damaged on Monday at another fire station near East Pershing Road and South Wabash Avenue in the city’s Bronzeville neighborhood.<\/p>\n

“It appears to be the same person that is damaging our members’ cars,” Quane said. “Some of our members had their cars parked on the street. That offender passed those vehicles, did not damage any of those vehicles and specifically went to the vehicles that were in the parking lot.”<\/p>\n

The impacted firefighters feel helpless with heavy repair work ahead.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, we have to have somewhere to park when we come to work, and we’re not police officers, so we’re not going to go out and apprehend these offenders. The best thing we can do is utilize our brothers and sisters in blue, and hopefully, they will do their job and help us out on this one,” Quane said.<\/p>\n

Chicago police are investigating. So far, no one is in custody.<\/p>\n
