The EMTs were responding to a report of an emotionally disturbed person at an apartment building on Sedgwick Avenue in Morris Heights\u00a0around 10 p.m. when the unhinged man suddenly pummeled the first responders,\u00a0police and sources said.<\/p>\n

Both were taken to a local hospital in stable condition, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The FDNY said two other EMS workers were also hospitalized for injuries sustained on the call.<\/p>\n
Police responded and arrested Jose Bencosme, 22, who lived in the building, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
