New York City socialist Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani is being ripped for advocating \u201cthe abolition of private property\u201d \u2014 as a video resurfaced <\/a>of him touting the radical position this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there was any system that could guarantee each person housing \u2014 whether you call it the abolition of private property or you call it a statewide housing guarantee \u2014 it is preferable to what is going on right now,\u201d Mamdani said in the video shared by RNC Research.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople try to play gotcha games about these kinds of things. Look, I care more about whether somebody has a home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mamdani was advocating for \u201cthe abolition of private property\u201d in the video. x\/RNCResearch<\/p>\n

The RNC reposting of the old clip \u2014 first appearing on the \u201cEnd Wokeness\u201d group\u2019s X site \u2014 is a strong indication that GOP officials will seek to tie Democratic opponents to Mamdani in the 2026 congressional midterm elections, especially if he wins the mayoralty.<\/p>\n

Suggesting or supporting stripping owners of property rights without just compensation is controversial and in some instances, illegal.<\/p>\n

Mamdani, in another resurfaced clip, talks up \u201cseizing the means of production\u201d \u2014 a policy long advanced by Marxists.<\/p>\n

President Trump<\/a> has called Mamdani a \u201ccommunist.\u201d He identifies as a Democratic socialist.<\/p>\n

\u201cMamdani will be a gift to Republicans,\u201d said New York State Republican Party chairman Ed Cox.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut if he wins the mayoralty he\u2019ll destroy New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

New York\u2019s House Republicans piled on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the latest on NYC mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rep. Mike Lawler<\/a>, a Republican who represents the lower Hudson Valley who also reposted the Mamdani video said, \u201cMarxism. Communism. Socialism. Call it whatever you want. It\u2019s bat shit insane and he must be defeated at the ballot box in November.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mamdani\u2019s campaign had no immediate comment.<\/p>\n

His housing plan calls for 200,000 new affordable units over ten year.<\/p>\n

A 33-year-old Queens assemblyman, Mamdani shocked the political world by defeating ex-Gov. <\/a>Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary last month.<\/p>\n

Mamdani is now favored to win the general election against incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa and Cuomo. Both Adams and Cuomo are running on independent ballot lines.<\/p>\n

Mamdani, during a series of meetings over the past week, has sought to allay the concerns of city business leaders about his plans to boost taxes on millionaires and corporations by $9 billion to fund a subsidized housing expansion, fare-free buses and child care.<\/p>\n

He also downplayed some of his controversial clips touting Marxist ideas.<\/p>\n

Major Democratic leaders in New York haven\u2019t endorsed him \u2014 at least not yet \u2014 including Gov. Kathy Hochul, Sen. Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.<\/p>\n
