\n\tCoachella<\/a> attendees who turned out to watch Katseye<\/a> perform got a \u201cGolden\u201d treat when the singers behind Huntr\/x \u2014 Ejae<\/a> (Rumi), Audrey Nuna (Mira), and Rei Ami (Zoey) \u2014 made a surprise appearance.<\/p>\n

\n\tFresh off winning the Oscar for best original song, the \u201cKPop Demon Hunters\u201d stars joined Katseye (Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza and Yoonchae Jeung) on the Sahara stage to perform \u201cGolden.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKatseye kicked off the festival\u2019s opening night and are set to perform both weekends. Among the songs they performed were \u201cInternet Girl,\u201d \u201cPinky Up\u201d and \u201cMean Girls.\u201d The group climbed the ranks as K-pop trainees on the 2023 reality competition series \u201cDream Academy.\u201d They became breakout performers following the Netflix docuseries \u201cPopstar Academy: Katseye\u201d along with their aptly-titled first single \u201cDebut.\u201d Earilier this year, they landed a Grammy nomination for best new artist. Their song \u201cGabriela\u201d was nominated for best pop duo\/group performance.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe group has released two EPs, 2024\u2019s \u201cSIS (Soft Is Strong)\u201d and last year\u2019s \u201cBeautiful Chaos,\u201d as well as a handful of singles. \u201cGnarly,\u201d which was co-written by Alice Longyu Gao, became their first song to hit the Billboard Hot 100 last year. They followed with \u201cGabriela,\u201d \u201cGameboy\u201d and \u201cInternet Girl,\u201d the latter of which debuted at No. 29 on the charts.<\/p>\n

\n\tAside from the Oscar, \u201cGolden\u201d scooped up a string of awards including the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for best original song. It also won the Grammy Award for best song written for visual media.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cGolden\u201d was written by EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, IDO, 24 and Teddy Park, and became a massive hit since debuting on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 2025. It scored eight non-consecutive weeks atop that chart, becoming the longest-leading hit on the tally by an animated act.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking with Variety<\/a> about the song\u2019s success, Ami described the feeling as \u201cvindicating,\u201d adding that there\u2019s finally \u201cvalidation. It\u2019s long overdue,\u201d she said. \u201cWe worked our asses off. We\u2019ve had the door shut in our faces. We were told we were too little, too much.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tSabrina Carpenter is Friday night\u2019s headliner.\u00a0Justin Bieber<\/a> will take to the stage on Saturday night. He\u2019s set to perform at 11:25 p.m. on the festival\u2019s hump night.
