Despite not adding to her major tally so far in 2025, Aryna Sabalenka has enjoyed another successful season. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Sabalenka<\/a> has won three titles this year, while maintaining her position as number one in the WTA<\/a> rankings, which she reclaimed in October 2024.<\/p>\n

The Belarusian made two Grand Slam finals at the Australian Open and Roland Garros, and recently reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon, before bowing out to Amanda Anisimova<\/a>. <\/p>\n

As she enters the North American hard-court swing, Sabalenka has now achieved something no woman has managed in a decade. <\/p>\n

Following her campaign at the All England Club, the 27-year-old has now tallied 12,420 points in the world rankings.<\/p>\n

She becomes the first woman to collect more than 12,000 points since Serena Williams<\/a> did so in 2015, and holds a lead of 4,751 points ahead of world number two Coco Gauff<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Williams had 12,721 points during the fortnight of the 2015 US Open before dropping to 11,501 after failing to defend her title at Flushing Meadows.<\/p>\n

Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek<\/a> has also come close to achieving the feat, peaking at 11,695 in 2024.<\/p>\n

The record for the most ranking points held at one time on the WTA Tour<\/p>\n

The woman with the most ranking points held at one time in history is Williams, who became the first to surpass the 13,000 point mark in 2013.<\/p>\n

She dominated that year, clinching titles at Roland Garros, the US Open, and the WTA Finals, while also emerging victorious in Madrid, Miami, Rome, Toronto and Beijing. <\/p>\n

In terms of ranking points, Williams reached her highest total after defeating Maria Sharapova<\/a> in the French Open final, ending the tournament on 13,615 points.<\/p>\n

The American finished the season with 13,260 points to her name, capping off a legendary year on the tour. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
