JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 Be prepared for the hottest weekend of the year as a stretch of high temperatures paired with stifling humidity, making for a weekend that\u2019s likely to feel especially intense when you step outside. <\/p>\n

High temperatures are expected to hit 95 degrees on Friday, with the potential to climb even higher to 97 or 98 degrees by Saturday and Sunday. Overnight lows are sticking in the mid-to-high 70s, meaning little relief even after sunset. <\/p>\n

Afternoon showers and pop-up storm chances<\/p>\n

While the main story is the heat, there is the possibility of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Folks in southern zones and areas west of I-95 and closer to US 301 may see the heaviest downpours, but rain is not expected to be as widespread. Most rain will begin after 1 p.m., before pushing inland with the east coast sea breeze throughout the late afternoon. <\/p>\n

Heat advisories are likely to be issued by the National Weather Service. Those advisories are issued when feels like temperatures are expected to be 108-112 degrees for two hours or more.<\/p>\n
