{"id":72473,"date":"2025-07-18T11:10:15","date_gmt":"2025-07-18T11:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/72473\/"},"modified":"2025-07-18T11:10:15","modified_gmt":"2025-07-18T11:10:15","slug":"fox-partnership-will-have-different-feel-than-espn-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/72473\/","title":{"rendered":"Fox partnership will have different feel than ESPN show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When Barstool Sports <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/17\/sports\/dave-portnoy-lifts-veil-on-fox-sports-deal-joining-big-noon-kickoff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brings its brand of sports talk to Fox Sports<\/a>, it will \u201cget to be Barstool,\u201d Dan \u201cBig Cat\u201d Katz said during Thursday\u2019s \u201cBarstool Yak\u201d on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Katz was discussing the new partnership between Fox Sports and Barstool that was announced this week, combining the two household names in sports around the network\u2019s college football programming and a new FS1 studio show.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The latter show, in particular, is the second go-around for Barstool when it comes to working with a network on a linear program, and its first since the ill-fated \u201cVan Talk\u201d that lasted one episode in 2017 before it was canceled by ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>Katz expects that the new deal and studio show will be a better opportunity than the ESPN partnership for \u201cVan Talk\u201d ended up being because \u201cthe world\u2019s changed.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[FS1] realizes, whenever Barstool Van Talk got canceled, 2017, look, [Pat] McAfee\u2019s thriving,\u201d he said. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/17\/sports\/espn-unbothered-by-shane-gillis-polarizing-espys-monologue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shane Gillis just did the ESPYs<\/a> last night. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVan Talk\u201d ended abruptly due in part to previous comments made by Katz and Barstool founder Dave Portnoy <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/16\/sports\/sam-ponder-breaks-silence-on-legit-crazy-reasons-for-espn-firing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">about then-ESPNer Sam Ponder<\/a>, and former-ESPN president John Skipper later said that the network wasn\u2019t able to distance itself from the Barstool brand as much as it wanted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Katz feels the new Fox partnership will allow Barstool to remain true to what it does best.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s going to be a lot of our audience tuning in,\u201d Katz said. \u201cAnd I think it\u2019s going to be a lot different than the ESPN deal we did back in 2017, where I think Fox is a very willing partner that reached out to us, you know what I mean? Icon Sportswire via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Barstool and Fox Sports announced the deal Thursday, and it will include Portnoy becoming a regular contributor on \u201cBig Noon Kickoff.
