\n\tDamon Lindelof<\/a> has done a lot of business with Warner Bros<\/a> over the years, and on Monday the Watchmen<\/a> creator put the business of the pending Paramount<\/a>-Warner Bros Discover merger in stark bottom-line perspective.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHollywood, believe it or not, is a blue-collar town,\u201d the Lanterns<\/a> executive producer posted this morning, explaining why he joined Lost colleague JJ Abrams PThe Pitt star Noah Wylie, The Sopranos kingpin David Chase, Emma Thompson<\/a>, Don Cheadle Jane Fonda<\/a> and more in signing an open letter <\/a>opposing the David Ellison<\/a>-owned Paramount\u2019s pending $111 billion takeover of WBD<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s thousands and thousands of Grips and Gaffers. Drivers and Decorators. Builders and Boom operators. Camera teams and Caterers,\u201d wrote Lindelof, a frequent contributor to progressive candidates and causes.

\u201cAnd they\u2019re all about to get f*cked.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHollywood mergers mean fewer movies and fewer TV shows and that means fewer jobs,\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen two storied backlots are owned by the same company, the outcome is intuitive \u2014 one becomes a Ghost Town,\u201d Emmy winner Lindelof added. \u201cI\u2019m scared. But I\u2019m not a ghost. And a fight is already lost if it\u2019s never fought. So I signed. Proudly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs Ellison\u2019s \u201cgood friend\u201d Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s administration fast-tracks the merger, several blue state attorneys general have put Ellison and Paramount on notice that they want to take a deeper look at the deal<\/a> and its consequences, antitrust and otherwise. California Sen. Adam Schiff held a mock hearing of sorts on the proposed deal last month in Burbank<\/a> with Wylie, IATSE boss Matt Loeb, former CNN anchor Jim Acosta and CA AG Rob Bonta in attendance and offering critiques.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough the GOP holds the power in DC, Democratic senators like Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Cory Booker (D-NJ) and wild man Chris \u201cWe are going to break up these anti-democratic information conglomerates\u201d<\/a> Murphy (D-CT) are raising hell over the Paramount-WBD<\/a> meld.<\/p>\n

\n\tThose raised voices could translate into much more if the Dems do well in the midterms.<\/p>\n

\n\tLanterns \u2014 penned by Lindelof, Chris Mundy and Tom King and starring Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Kelly Macdonald and Nathan Fillion \u2014 premieres in August. <\/a>Lindelof is also on board as showrunner for HBO\u2019s The Chain<\/a>.<\/p>\n
