But, a strong thunderstorm cannot be ruled out all the way toward Saranac Lake, Plattsburgh, Burlington and Montpelier. Any stronger cells that develop will be capable of producing wind gusts near 60 mph or small hail. Rain may be locally heavy, but the threat for flash flooding remains low.Due to added spin in the atmosphere, with a nearby warm front, there is a very low but nonzero risk for a brief spin-up tornado, mainly in southern Vermont.Extended ForecastLingering shower chances persist through the remainder of the week, with additional rumbles of thunder possible, especially Wednesday morning and again late on Thursday. Temperatures stay in the 60s and 70s.A cooling trend is expected early next week with highs back in the 30s and 40s… a few snowflakes can’t be ruled out Monday or Tuesday.
