Paul Rosolie, on the other hand, was sharing his own \u2018in sight\u2019 by trying to get eaten alive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The US ecologist and conservationist made headlines when he starred in Eaten Alive, a Discovery Channel special that saw him don a custom-made <b>carbon fiber suit, slather himself in pig\u2019s blood, and offer his body to a green anaconda <\/b>in the Peruvian Amazon \u2013 all to raise awareness of rainforest destruction.<\/p>\n<p>What happened to snake-eaten Rosolie?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Rosolie, who has spent over 16 years protecting wildlife and ecosystems in Brazil, India, Indonesia and Peru, had a clear mission. <b>\u201cPeople needed a shock,\u201d he later said. \u201cIf letting a snake eat me helps save the rainforest, so be it.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The 20ft female snake \u2013 weighing around 250lbs \u2013 didn\u2019t hesitate. As Rosolie approached on all fours, mimicking a wild boar, she struck his head and began to coil around his arms and torso. <b>\u201cShe\u2019s got my arms pinned. She knows there\u2019s nothing I can do,\u201d <\/b>he said via radio mic, his breathing labored, heart rate surging.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><b>Inside the reinforced suit<\/b>, he was equipped with a face mask, a crush-proof oxygen hose, cameras, sensors and a three-hour air supply. But none of that stopped the pain when the anaconda began to squeeze.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe last thing I remember was her mouth open wide and everything went black,\u201d he recalled. <b>\u201cShe wrapped around me and I felt my suit cracking and my arms ripping out of their sockets.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">As she clamped onto his head and tightened around his chest, Rosolie finally tapped out: \u201cStand by guys, I\u2019m starting to feel like she\u2019s consuming me. Guys, my face is down. I\u2019m calling it \u2013 I need help!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The team rushed in, pulling him free before the snake could swallow more than part of his head.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He survived \u2013 shaken, sore, but alive \u2013 and <b>raised thousands for jungle conservation. <\/b>Still, a decade on, the Amazon remains under threat.
