The proposed change would give staff more time to prepare for the program\u2019s scheduling and staffing for the 2026-27 school year, according to district documents. The board will vote on the change at its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fwisd.org\/fs\/resource-manager\/view\/7a373bbe-c0fb-44b6-b295-d5160fac93c5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:meeting Tuesday night;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">meeting Tuesday night<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The impacted schools are:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"content-list\">\n<li>\n<p>Edward J. Briscoe Elementary<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li\/>\n<li>\n<p>Clifford Davis Elementary<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li\/>\n<li>\n<p>Van Zandt-Guinn Elementary<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li\/>\n<li\/>\n<li\/>\n<li\/>\n<li\/>\n<li\/>\n<li\/>\n<li\/>\n<li\/>\n<li\/><\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThe district will use a longer planning runway to build campus readiness, train staff, and align expanded learning to clear academic priorities \u2014 particularly in literacy and mathematics,\u201d according to district staff.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2025, prior to the state takeover of Fort Worth ISD and the appointment of the Board of Managers in March, the elected school board at the time approved the schedule for the current school year to provide more instructional time to students. These schools planned to have 25 additional school days, dismissing students on June 30. The regular school year ends on May 21.<\/p>\n<p>Some of these schools already planned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.star-telegram.com\/news\/local\/education\/article313559096.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:close at the end of the current school year;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">close at the end of the current school year<\/a> as part of an existing facilities master plan that includes shuttering almost 20 schools over the next three years.
