The Gary\/Chicago International Airport recently marked its 800th\u00a0international arrival, officials said Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Officials said international arrivals have been on an upswing since 2022, averaging about 150 per year. Last year, the airport welcomed nearly 200 arrivals.<\/p>\n
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility opened in 2018 for international travel.<\/p>\n
Flights have originated from Asia, Africa, Europe, Central and South America, as well as the Middle East. The airport welcomed its first arrival from Japan in late March.<\/p>\n
Airport executive director Dan Vicari said business leaders are discovering the airport\u2019s convenience to Chicago.<\/p>\n
