Gone. Done. Finished.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody\u2019s around to put anyone together again.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re not ailing, the profession is flailing.<\/p>\n<p>You need a bed, a doc, a nurse, a medication \u2014 forget it. Soon Humpty Dumpty cannot be put together again.<\/p>\n<p>And neither can you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The doctors\u2019 opinions are in<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been interviewing doctors. Many with honors, plaques even. Here\u2019s what they said:<\/p>\n<p>People are terrified AI can read an X-ray as well as a radiologist.<\/p>\n<p>Pathologists have begun to use machines.<\/p>\n<p>Border control is freaking out farmers who can no longer pick their necessary crops.<\/p>\n<p>More and more scientific tests get conducted in the field, so who pays for all that?<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGet opinions and commentary from our columnists\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSubscribe to our daily Post Opinion newsletter!\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>You get older, you need help, you get pushed back.<\/p>\n<p>To gain status in lesser countries, young Indians, Chinese, Pakistanis pick careers in medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Drones are killing people.<\/p>\n<p>The population\u2019s aging.<\/p>\n<p>The cost of prescriptions are rising.<\/p>\n<p>They step you down to see the nurse practitioner.<\/p>\n<p>Visits with a real MD are hard to arrange unless some specialized procedure\u2019s required.<\/p>\n<p>Medical care will soon be rationed.<\/p>\n<p>Difficult to arrange certain needed medical tests.<\/p>\n<p>Resources for the aged will be limited.<\/p>\n<p>Procedures become run by insurance companies.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll talk to a real doctor \u2014 only by phone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fitting in a checkup<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Should your physical problem be excess weight, forget hunting a dietitian. Or a medical specialist. Just remember the immortal words of Chubby Checker, whose insurance carrier offered him group insurance. He said: \u201cPlease, my second cousin knew how to get rid of 235 pounds of ugly fat. He divorced her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And then there\u2019s the diet pill stuff. For when your bathrobe\u2019s formfitting. For when your bra is a hammock. When Mayor Crapdammy donates your pants for the homeless. When you wear the same size dress as the Statue of Liberty, and maybe still can\u2019t fit and she\u2019s 2 inches taller than you \u2014 and she\u2019s lying down.<\/p>\n<p>YOU just need exercise. Like this sheik who \u2014 when in the mood \u2014 hired a track star to run for one of his wives. The sheik lived to be 97. The runner died at 64. Moral of the story?
