Find the other articles here<\/a> as they are published.<\/p>\n Fort Worth voters will be asked to approve $63.9 million in debt in the May 2 election to pay for a new fire station in the Chisholm Trail Corridor, replace one in northwest Fort Worth and renovate a building to consolidate the city\u2019s emergency communications and operations.<\/p>\n Fort Worth Proposition E authorizes the city to sell $63.9 million in general obligation debt to finance public safety improvements related to police, fire, and emergency communication facilities.<\/p>\n The full bond package up for approval totals \u00a0$485 million.<\/a> Early voting is April 20-28. Also before voters in the May 2 election: several charter amendments<\/a>, including one to raise pay of the mayor and city council members; and a special election to fill the District 10 seat<\/a> in far north Fort Worth.\u00a0<\/p>\n The planned public safety projects include:<\/p>\n City officials have said Fort Worth\u2019s skyrocketing growth \u2014 by 2030, the city is projected to be one of the 10 largest cities in the U.S. \u2014 will require more investment in emergency management.<\/p>\n \u201cWith the rise in extreme weather events, public health crises and large-scale emergencies, Fort Worth must continue to strengthen its emergency management capabilities,\u201d the city\u2019s budget plan reads<\/a>. \u201cThis includes expanded planning, response coordination and community preparedness efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n This report contains material from previous Fort Worth Report reporting.<\/p>\n Scott Nishimura is senior editor for local government accountability and a Fort Worth City Hall reporter at the Fort Worth Report.
