CHICAGO (WLS) — A man was convicted Wednesday in a Chicago police shooting that injured two officers in 2021, according to court documents.<\/p>\n

After just over an hour of deliberating, a jury found Bruce Lua guilty of attempted murder and aggravated battery.<\/p>\n

Investigators said the officers were responding to a ShotSpotter alert, and approached a man they spotted in Lawndale on May 16, 2021.<\/p>\n

In body camera video<\/a>, you can see police following the man down an alley. They shout at him to stop, but he keeps walking until he suddenly takes out a gun and fires right at them. The confrontation was caught from a different angle on another officer’s body-camera.<\/p>\n

Police returned fire and Lua was hit in the leg, but survived.<\/p>\n

The officers were released from the hospital the same day.<\/p>\n

Lua is due back in court May 18.<\/p>\n
