{"id":733590,"date":"2026-04-17T03:54:12","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T03:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/733590\/"},"modified":"2026-04-17T03:54:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T03:54:12","slug":"mandalorian-and-grogu-shows-17-minutes-of-footage-star-wars-return","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/733590\/","title":{"rendered":"Mandalorian and Grogu Shows 17 Minutes of Footage, Star Wars Return"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/the-mandalorian-and-grogu\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-mandalorian-and-grogu\" data-tag=\"the-mandalorian-and-grogu\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Mandalorian and Grogu<\/a>\u201d will hit theaters next month, but the first 17 minutes of the film were shown during Disney\u2019s presentation at <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/cinemacon\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cinemacon\" data-tag=\"cinemacon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CinemaCon<\/a>, the annual convention for movie theater owners held in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/pedro-pascal\/\" id=\"auto-tag_pedro-pascal\" data-tag=\"pedro-pascal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pedro Pascal<\/a>\u2018s Mandalorian warrior Din Djarin, better known as Mando, and Grogu, the beloved green alien affectionately called Baby Yoda, team up for their first big-screen adventure after starring in their Disney+ series for three seasons. They\u2019re joined by Sigourney Weaver as a New Republic leader named Ward and Jeremy Allen White as the voice of Rotta the Hutt, the son of crime lord Jabba. The film hits theaters next month on May 22.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDirector Jon Favreau took the CinemaCon stage to debut the opening 17 minutes of the film, which saw Mando infiltrate a secret meeting of Empire sympathizers and blow up massive AT-AT walkers on a snowy planet. The bounty hunter shot, stabbed and flamethrower-ed his way through the base full of Snowtroopers, with Grogu helping along the way. The Empire leader sends out a recon droid, which meets an explosive end when Grogu uses the Force on it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe heroes steal a mini AT-ST walker and sprint down the snow-covered cliffs, dodging AT-AT footsteps and lasers. Mando uses a bomb to trip one of the lumbering mechs, sending it crashing down the mountain, then jetpacks up to the hatch of another. The Empire baddie zooms away on an escape pod, but Mando overrides the AT-AT blasters and shoots him out of the sky.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAfter completing their mission, Mando, Grogu and their pilot Zeb Orrelios from \u201cStar Wars Rebels\u201d fly back to the New Republic base and report to Weaver\u2019s Ward. She chastises them for killing their Empire target without getting any intel, but hands them their next mission: rescue Rotta the Hutt from rival gangsters. They board a shiny, brand-new ship and fly off into space.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe Mandalorian and Grogu\u201d marks the first big-screen \u201cStar Wars\u201d story to release since 2019\u2019s \u201cThe Rise of Skywalker.\u201d The impressive footage had plenty of explosive \u201cMandalorian\u201d action, adorable Baby Yoda gags and new \u201cStar Wars\u201d enemies and tech. The Snowtroopers were dressed in different armor than the Hoth soldiers from \u201cThe Empire Strikes Back, and Mando\u2019s AT-ST was a smaller, nimbler version than what we saw on Endor in \u201cReturn of the Jedi.\u201d Rather than start with the iconic opening crawl of past \u201cStar Wars\u201d movies, \u201cThe Mandalorian and Grogu\u201d begins with static yellow text explaining where the fledgling New Republic stands in the wake of the Empire\u2019s fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe Mandalorian\u201d was the flagship show when streaming service Disney+ launched in 2019, and it spawned two more seasons and spinoffs \u201cThe Book of Boba Fett,\u201d \u201cAhsoka\u201d and \u201cSkeleton Crew.\u201d They all took place in the same time period after the Empire\u2019s fall in \u201cReturn of the Jedi\u201d and 25 years before the First Order rises in \u201cThe Force Awakens.\u201d The New Republic tries to keep order in the galaxy, but there are still remnants of Stormtroopers and Empire forces hiding out. Other Disney+ shows, like \u201cObi-Wan Kenobi,\u201d \u201cAndor\u201d and \u201cThe Acolyte,\u201d explored other timelines of \u201cStar Wars\u201d history as the franchise expanded on the small screen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAfter \u201cThe Mandalorian and Grogu,\u201d fans won\u2019t have to wait as long for another movie because \u201cStar Wars: Starfighter\u201d is flying into theaters next year on May 28, 2027.
