The NASCAR <\/a>Chicago Street Race has been going on for three years now. Could we see the event for a fourth year in 2026? With increased interest from the city, the Cup Series could find itself back in the Windy City. <\/p>\n

There is a potential for a two-year extension between NASCAR and the city of Chicago. If that were to happen, there is even a possibility for two street races on the schedule next season. <\/p>\n

Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic<\/a> broke down his thoughts and information on the 2026 NASCAR schedule this week. Chicago came up. It could depend on shifting the date away from the Fourth of July. <\/p>\n

\u201cIs there a date other than the Fourth of July weekend that works better?\u201d Bianchi writes. \u201cAnd would NASCAR, after three successful years, be better served leaving, letting the anticipation for a return build, then coming back sometime in the future?<\/p>\n

\u201cThe popularity of the race is a significant factor in the decision. NASCAR loves it, and so do league and team sponsors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bianchi finished his section on the NASCAR Chicago Street Race, noting there will be \u201ca resolution soon.\u201d Whether the race is on the 2026 schedule or not will have an impact on other scheduling decisions. <\/p>\n

For those who would like to see an oval race in the Chicago area, you might be in luck. There is word about Chicagoland as well. <\/p>\n

Will NASCAR go to Chicago Street or Chicagoland Speedway? <\/p>\n

While the NASCAR Cup Series has not raced at Chicagoland Speedway for six years, there could be momentum towards a return. It is going to take investment from NASCAR to get the facility back up and running, and looking ready for race day. But it is possible. <\/p>\n

According to Bianchi, Chicagoland is a possibility for the 2026 season. It could depend on whether NASCAR returns to the Chicago Street Race and\/or Mexico City. If there is an open spot on the schedule, Chicagoland appears to be the top choice<\/a> to take it. <\/p>\n

\u201cA return to Chicagoland could happen in 2026, but it\u2019s no sure thing. Right now, the focus within NASCAR, those sources said, is\u00a0to finalize the San Diego race\u00a0and sort out the respective futures of Mexico City and the Chicago Street Race. Chicagoland, though, is an option if a spot opens up,\u201d Bianchi reported.<\/p>\n

Chicagoland would be a great track for this Next Gen car. We know it races best at the intermediate tracks.
