A teenager was arrested in connection with an electric motorcycle crash that left an 81-year-old pedestrian in critical condition near a high school in Lake Forest, officials said Friday.<\/p>\n
The collision happened near El Toro High School in the area of Toledo Way and Ridge Route Drive just before 4 p.m. Thursday, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Responding deputies found the elderly man with life-threatening injuries and took him to the hospital.<\/p>\n
Officials say the suspect, who was allegedly driving recklessly during the crash, left the area but was quickly identified as a 14-year-old boy. His name was not released by authorities because he is a minor.<\/p>\n
A search warrant was served at his Lake Forest home, close to where the crash happened, and the teen was booked at Orange County Juvenile Hall, the sheriff’s department said.<\/p>\n
OCSD’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash.<\/p>\n
Investigators say the e-motorcycle involved in the collision is designed for off-highway use.<\/p>\n
