ALBANY \u2013 Embattled New York Attorney General Letitia James on Friday repeatedly refused to tell The Post why she won\u2019t release her tax returns like other top Democrats in the state did earlier in the week. <\/p>\n

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Gov. Kathy Hochul have made income tax returns available for review by reporters, but James is refusing to do so \u2014 even as she fights back allegations<\/a> she falsified information on mortgage applications.<\/p>\n

The Empire State\u2019s AG bizarrely claimed that the decision to release her own tax return was up to her staff. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey will make that determination,\u201d a perturbed James repeatedly told The Post as she partied with other Dem big wigs at the Somos conference in Albany Friday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know the practice. You speak to the comms director,\u201d James argued before turning away to work a rope line with other glad-handing attendees.<\/p>\n

The Post reached out to James\u2019 office about the filings several times this week. <\/p>\n

Several minutes after the exchange, a spokesperson confirmed to The Post that James\u2019 staff had in fact decided not to release her tax returns.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not releasing the Attorney General\u2019s tax returns. All are welcome to review her annual financial disclosure when that is released,\u201d James\u2019 Communications Director, Alexis Richards, wrote in a statement.<\/p>\n

\"TheJames was indicted in federal court in Virginia last year on fraud charges after listing two homes as her primary address. Brigitte Stelzer<\/p>\n

The latest legally required state financial disclosure statements for public officials are due out next month, but those filings include far less detailed information.<\/p>\n

Mamdani\u2019s filings reviewed by The Post and other outlets this week revealed his rise to prominence has also led to a modest boost in royalties<\/a> from his abandoned rap career.<\/p>\n

Hochul\u2019s, meanwhile, affirmed that she and her husband Bill pay New York City income taxes and would theoretically be impacted by Mamdani\u2019s calls to tax millionaires, having reported $1.9 million of income on their 2025 federal return.<\/p>\n

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli also made his returns available for review this week.<\/p>\n
