{"id":737858,"date":"2026-04-19T02:13:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-19T02:13:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/737858\/"},"modified":"2026-04-19T02:13:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T02:13:17","slug":"major-flooding-expected-on-des-plaines-river-in-multiple-suburbs-nbc-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/737858\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Major flooding\u2019 expected on Des Plaines River in multiple suburbs \u2013 NBC Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Chicago area has been inundated with rain in recent days, and several local rivers are rising rapidly. <\/p>\n<p>In suburban Lincolnshire, the Des Plaines River is expected to see \u201cmajor flooding,\u201d according to a new warning issued by the National Weather Service. <\/p>\n<p>That community isn\u2019t the only one that could see impacts from the Des Plaines, as the river is expected to crest at 15.5 feet on Saturday evening between Libertyville and Prospect Heights. <\/p>\n<p>Those water levels could threaten structures along Half Day Road and along Milwaukee Avenue and Deerfield Road. <\/p>\n<p>Flooding also occurring along the river near Gurnee, with moderate flooding expected between the suburban community and Vernon Hills, threatening some residences along Kilbourne Road in Gurnee, along with businesses along Old Grand Avenue, the National Weather Service warns. <\/p>\n<p>Outside of the Chicago area multiple other rivers are flooding as well, including the Rock River in the northwestern part of the state, which is experiencing major flooding in Afton and Janesville, along with significant flooding near Moline. <\/p>\n<p>Major flooding is also expected along the Fox River near New Munster, Wisconsin, with the river expected to crest up to four feet above flood stage this weekend.
