Support is growing to rename the Utica Avenue subway station at Fulton St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn for the late leader, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2025\/S1204#:~:text=BILL%20NUMBER%3A%20S1204%20SPONSOR%3A%20CLEARE,repeal%20of%20such%20provisions%20upon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">State Senator Cordell Cleare is backing a legislative push<\/a> to rename Manhattan\u2019s 110th St.\u2013Central Park North subway stop to the Malcolm X Plaza station.<\/p>\n<p>That all follows <a href=\"https:\/\/amsterdamnews.com\/news\/2025\/05\/22\/malcolm-100\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a \u201cmassive turnout\u201d last month of VIPs<\/a> and other supporters at the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center, located at the former site of Manhattan\u2019s Audubon Ballroom where Malcolm X was slain, to celebrate his birthday, according to the Amsterdam News.<\/p>\n<p>With roots in Grenada, the famed Black American leader took the name El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz after his Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in 1964, following a long-time association with the Nation of Islam movement. (Handout)<\/p>\n<p>A comprehensive vacation experience, <a href=\"https:\/\/restaurantweek.kn\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">St. Kitts and Nevis Restaurant Week<\/a> \u2014 featuring the twin-island Caribbean nation\u2019s best chefs and restaurants from July 17 through 27 \u2014 will highlight local cuisine and diverse natural and cultural offerings.<\/p>\n<p>Backed by the St. Kitts and Nevis tourism authorities and notable local and regional supporters, participating restaurants and eateries will be offering a wide variety of lunch and dinner specials during the event. The NYPL Heritage Book Club reading of \u201cPlantains and Our Becoming: Poems by Melania Luisa Marte\u201d on June 24 in Manhattan; and a \u201cMovie Matinee\u201d presentation of \u201cA Reggae Session\u201d \u2014 a documentary about a historic, star-studded Fort Charles, Jamaica music event \u2014 on June 28 in the Bronx are among the events .
