Penn State’s new coaching staff has prioritized recruiting the state of New Jersey since arriving in State College. Those efforts have paid off and the Nittany Lions have now received their third 2027 commitment from a Garden State standout.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph Regional safety Jonathan Galette<\/a><\/b> committed to Penn State<\/a><\/b>\u00a0on Saturday after returning to campus for a spring practice visit last Tuesday. Galette joins Northern Highlands defensive lineman Carter Blattner<\/a><\/b> and Winslow Township cornerback Ka’ron Ceaser<\/a><\/b> as top targets from New Jersey who have so far landed in Penn State’s 2027 recruiting class.<\/p>\n “I’ve got an amazing relationship with the coaches,” Galette said of why he is committing to Penn State in an interview with Lions247. “They really make me feel like one of their own. I know that a lot of kids say this about every school, but that connection I have with their coaches just hits different.<\/p>\n “I see myself fitting into their defense really well. I think I excel at all the things they like to do.”<\/p>\n Penn State safeties coach Deon Broomfield<\/a><\/b> re-offered Galette leading into the January contact period and Galette was the first recruit Broomfield visited when he hit the road to recruit once January rolled around and the contact period started. The two have developed a strong relationship and Broomfield’s presence was a driving force in Galette committing to the Nittany Lions.<\/p>\n “Coach Broomfield is that guy, man,” Galette said. “He doesn’t tell me what I want to hear, he tells me the truth and always keeps it real. His safeties at Iowa State<\/a><\/b> are dogs, so I know he can develop.”<\/p>\n Galette ultimately picked Penn State the over Wisconsin<\/a><\/b>, as well as Power Four offers from Boston College<\/a><\/b>, Duke<\/a><\/b>, Illinois<\/a><\/b>, Indiana<\/a><\/b>, Maryland<\/a><\/b>, Michigan<\/a><\/b>, Michigan State<\/a><\/b>, NC State, North Carolina<\/a><\/b>, Ohio State<\/a><\/b>, Pittsburgh<\/a><\/b>, Rutgers<\/a><\/b>, Syracuse<\/a><\/b>, Tennessee<\/a><\/b>, USC<\/a><\/b>, Virginia Tech<\/a><\/b>, Wake Forest<\/a><\/b> and Washington.<\/p>\n The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Galette is coming off a junior season in which he totaled 46 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and three pass deflections along with a blocked punt on special teams.<\/p>\n 247Sports ranks Galette as the No. 65 athlete in the 2027 class and the No. 22 prospect in New Jersey, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings, Galette is the No. 658 overall recruit in his class, as well as the No. 50 athlete.<\/p>\n Penn State’s 2027 recruiting class now ranks 10th nationally according to the 247Sports Team Composite rankings with nine commits in total.<\/p>\n
