\n\tNFL hall-of-famer and podcaster\u00a0Shannon Sharpe<\/a>\u00a0has settled a lawsuit brought by a woman, who accused him of raping her twice across a two month period last year in her Las Vegas home.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tTony Buzbee, a lawyer for the Jane Doe, announced on Friday that a deal was reached to resolve the lawsuit. Terms of the agreement weren\u2019t disclosed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBoth sides acknowledge a long-term consensual and tumultuous relationship,\u201d he wrote<\/a> in an Instagram post. \u201cAfter protracted and respectful negotiations, I\u2019m pleased to announce that we have reached a mutually agreed upon resolution.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a lawsuit<\/a> brought in April in Nevada state court, the accuser alleged that Sharpe \u201cviolently sexually assaulted and anally raped\u201d her. She sought at least $50 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a statement posted on X attributed to his lawyer Lanny Davis, Sharpe named his accuser and cited text messages that he said prove that the relationship was consensual. He said that he \u201ccategorically denies all allegations of coercion or misconduct \u2014 especially the gross lie of \u2018rape\u2019 \u2014 and will not submit to what he sees as an egregious attempt at blackmail.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tSharpe later said he\u2019s \u201celecting to step aside temporarily\u201d from ESPN, with plans to return\u00a0in time for the NFL\u2019s preseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tSharpe and the woman met in 2023 at a Los Angeles gym, according to the complaint. They soon entered into a relationship, which included consensual sex, that later turned violent, the lawsuit claimed.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter moving to Las Vegas, the woman alleged Sharpe, who also relocated to the area, confronted her and demanded she take him to her house. Once there, she claimed he forced her to perform oral sex before penetrating her.<\/p>\n

\n\tThree months later in January, Sharpe allegedly assaulted her a second time, the lawsuit said. He \u201cgrabbed her\u2014pulling her around and positioning her to perform oral sex, which lasted for roughly two minutes,\u201d the complaint stated. \u201cThen, Sharpe repositioned her and roughly forced himself inside her.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe lawsuit brought a claim for sexual battery, as well as one for intentional infliction of emotional distress for Sharpe\u2019s alleged verbal abuse, among others. Sharpe has also been sued in New York state court by an ex-girlfriend, who alleges he forced her to perform oral sex.<\/p>\n
