{"id":74038,"date":"2025-07-19T00:42:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-19T00:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/74038\/"},"modified":"2025-07-19T00:42:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-19T00:42:10","slug":"perps-with-hundreds-of-arrests-make-a-mockery-of-new-yorks-criminal-justice-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/74038\/","title":{"rendered":"Perps with HUNDREDS of arrests make a mockery of New York&#8217;s criminal-justice system"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shoplifters and petty criminals are making a mockery of New York City\u2019s criminal-justice system, and Anthony White is the poster boy for the problem.<\/p>\n<p>White, 63, is a serial shoplifter with a whopping 254 arrests,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/17\/us-news\/massive-city-state-budgets-grossly-overspend-and-put-nyc-at-risk-fiscal-watchdog-finds-unaffordable-and-unprepared\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The Post\u2019s Matthew Fischetti and Vaughn Golden report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In May, he was nabbed again on burglary charges \u2014\u00a0allegedly hitting stores he\u2019d already been banned from \u2014 and once again set free, per court records.<\/p>\n<p>White was accused of stealing two shirts from a shop at Rockefeller Center, and prosecutors asked for $3,000 cash or $60,000 bond.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Kacie Lally nonetheless released him on supervised release.<\/p>\n<p>Then again, Lally even freed Edwin Wright after he allegedly beat up a 15-year-old Manhattan school girl \u2014 only for Wright to be accused of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/21\/us-news\/plucky-nyc-victim-94-vows-to-stand-her-ground-after-assault\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">clubbing a 94-year-old woman<\/a>\u00a0over the head with a metal object just months later.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tMore From\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPost Editorial Board<\/p>\n<p>Davaugh Gethers, meanwhile, isn\u2019t far behind White, with 235 arrests. Laron Mark, collared 203 times, is also in the running.<\/p>\n<p>Jacob \u201cJessica\u201d Poole has amassed 103 shoplifting arrests. <\/p>\n<p>In April he stole $215 worth of chicken from a market in the South Street Seaport.<\/p>\n<p>In each of the most recent arrests, prosecutors\u00a0did\u00a0ask for some sort of bail to be set, which makes for a change.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg\u2019s infamous \u201cDay 1\u201d memo, which instructed staff not to prosecute low-level offenses, and to avoid asking for incarceration when they do.<\/p>\n<p>But even when bail is requested, judges set the perps free.<\/p>\n<p>And you\u2019ve got to assume these hoodlums have gotten away with several crimes for every time they\u2019ve been arrested, since cops don\u2019t always get their man.<\/p>\n<p>How can they manage to carry on a\u00a0life-long\u00a0career of theft without being stopped?<\/p>\n<p>Simple: New York\u00a0lets\u00a0them.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tKeep up with today\u2019s most important news\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStay up on the very latest with Evening Update.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>As we\u2019ve often noted, the city and state are plagued with a tragic combination of softie judges, pro-criminal prosecutors, disastrous \u201ccriminal-justice reforms\u201d like cashless bail, anti-cop laws and regulations \u2014 and progressive elected officials, from Gov.
