Alex Ovechkin\u2019s<\/strong> record-breaking goal has been immortalized in the halls of hockey history.<\/p>\n

The Hockey Hall of Fame has added memorabilia from Ovechkin\u2019s 895th career goal to its \u201cNHL Today\u201d showcase, including a jersey and the socks Ovechkin wore when he broke Wayne Gretzky\u2019s NHL goals record on April 6 against the New York Islanders.<\/p>\n

The exhibit also features a set of Ovechkin\u2019s gloves and a stick he used during the 2018 Stanley Cup Final.<\/p>\n

After Ovechkin broke the record on Long Island, the Capitals and sports memorabilia company MeiGray began an immediate authentication process<\/a> of his gear. The commemorative \u201cOvie Goal 895 Equipment\u201d label, complete with Capitals head equipment manager Brock Myles\u2019s signature, is visible on the sock displayed at the HHOF.<\/p>\n

While some of Ovechkin\u2019s historic equipment is now on display in Toronto, the future Hall of Famer kept some of the most memorable gear. Ovechkin brought both the stick and puck<\/a> from his 895th goal with him when he returned home to Russia this summer.<\/p>\n

Ovechkin, a noted memorabilia collector, plans to eventually open a museum in Moscow<\/a> featuring both his own game-used gear and the impressive collection of sticks he\u2019s gathered from teammates and opponents over the years.<\/p>\n
