Charlie\u2019s Angels\u00a0star\u00a0Jaclyn Smith<\/b><\/a> has no regrets about turning down the James Bond movie Moonraker.<\/p>\n

The actress, 80, was offered the role of Dr. Holly Goodhead in the 1979 Bond film \u2014 which featured the late Roger Moore<\/b> as 007 \u2014 but she rejected the opportunity due to a scheduling conflict with crime drama TV series\u00a0Charlie\u2019s Angels.<\/p>\n

The Way We Were\u00a0actress\u00a0Lois Chiles<\/b>, 79 \u2014 who had previously been offered the role of Anya Amasova in 1977 Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me \u2014 took on the part of Goodhead instead.<\/p>\n

While Smith never got a chance to appear in a Bond film, she doesn\u2019t see it as a missed opportunity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a contract [for Charlie\u2019s Angels] and, you know, Houston upbringing, you follow your contract,\u201d the native Texan said in a Q&A<\/a> at the PaleyFest LA 2026: Charlie\u2019s Angels 50th Anniversary Celebration<\/a> on Monday, April 6, alongside her fellow former costars Kate Jackson<\/b>, 77, and\u00a0Cheryl Ladd<\/b>, 74.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd\u00a0Aaron [Spelling]<\/b> was the first to invite me to the party, so I was honoring my contract,\u201d Smith continued of the legendary TV producer. \u201cAnd I think it wasn\u2019t meant to be. I think things happen for a reason, I really do, so I have no complaints.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith also told how she was once \u201cconsidered for\u00a0Beetlejuice\u201c, but didn\u2019t say which of the female parts in the 1988 gothic comedy horror she was being lined up for.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just didn\u2019t understand. it. I know, sad. My husband<\/a> regrets that,\u201d she admitted. \u201cBut you read a script, and it doesn\u2019t always ring true to you, and it\u2019s about what you can bring to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Catherine O\u2019Hara<\/b> \u2014 who died in January at age 71 \u2014 Geena Davis<\/b>, 70, and a young\u00a0Winona Ryder<\/b>, 54, all appeared in the motion picture, which featured\u00a0Michael Keaton<\/b>, 74, as bio-exorcist Betelgeuse.<\/p>\n

Smith<\/a> also explained how \u201cthrough the years\u201d there have been \u201cdifferent things\u201d she could\u2019ve starred in.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Nightkill\u00a0actress went on to reveal how she and\u00a0John Travolta<\/b>, 72, were due to appear opposite one another in 1986 erotic romance movie\u00a09\u00bd Weeks \u201cat one point\u201d but she \u201cwasn\u2019t really right for that one either.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, that was Kim Basinger<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Mickey Rourke<\/b>,\u201d she said. \u201cYou know, it happens. But, you know, I think, certainly, I look at my life as what\u2019s meant to be will be, and it\u2019s been a good journey. It\u2019s really been a good journey.\u201d<\/p>\n
