{"id":74153,"date":"2025-07-19T01:43:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-19T01:43:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/74153\/"},"modified":"2025-07-19T01:43:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-19T01:43:10","slug":"records-reveal-former-bcso-deputys-pattern-of-misconduct-at-bexar-county-jail-before-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/74153\/","title":{"rendered":"Records reveal former BCSO deputy\u2019s pattern of misconduct at Bexar County jail before arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>BEXAR COUNTY, Texas<\/strong> \u2013 A now-former Bexar County sheriff\u2019s deputy, who resigned after he was arrested for enabling inmate assaults at the Bexar County jail, had a history of problems within the department, records obtained by KSAT show. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Jorge Alejandro Rocha, 30, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2025\/05\/17\/watch-live-at-915-pm-bexar-county-sheriffs-office-to-give-details-on-an-arrest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2025\/05\/17\/watch-live-at-915-pm-bexar-county-sheriffs-office-to-give-details-on-an-arrest\/\">was employed as a detention officer<\/a> with the sheriff\u2019s office until he was charged with interference with public duties and official oppression earlier this year, according to records. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">During a May news conference, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Rocha allowed inmates into other jail cells for assaults or at least turned a \u201cblind eye\u201d while inmates were assaulted. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">One of the alleged assaults happened on March 27, according to an arrest warrant, when six men entered an inmate\u2019s cell and physically attacked him. A report indicated that the inmate was in \u201cfear for safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Another inmate told investigators that they were \u201cfearful because Rocha was still a deputy,\u201d telling investigators that \u201cthey\u2019re gonna open my door tonight,\u201d the warrant stated. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Salazar previously said that the inmates who were assaulted have since recovered from their injuries. However, the sheriff said Rocha\u2019s activities at the jail were illegal and could not be tolerated. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">After Rocha was arrested, Salazar said he went to serve Rocha with termination paperwork. He ultimately chose to resign, according to Salazar.<\/p>\n<p>Suspension, letters of reprimand<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">In addition to the assault allegations at the Bexar County jail, BCSO records show that Rocha was suspended and issued multiple letters of reprimand in May 2023. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Rocha was suspended for \u201cpoor job performance\u201d as well as \u201cconduct or action that would seriously impair job effectiveness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">BCSO records cited an incident in October 2023 when Rocha \u201cfailed to secure his office door\u201d while undergoing observation checks.
