1.\u00a0State reaches sexual harassment settlement with former Cuomo staffer<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

New York state has reached a sexual harassment settlement with a former staffer of then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo for nearly half a million dollars.<\/p>\n

In 2021, Brittany Commisso came forward and\u00a0accused Cuomo of sexually harassing her in the executive mansion in Albany back in 2020.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0City of Yes: An early look at whether it’s creating more housing<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

It was more than two years ago, Mayor Eric Adams looked into a camera and announced an ambitious plan to fix New York City\u2019s long-standing housing crisis.\u00a0His goal: create half a million new home units in 10 years.<\/p>\n

City of Yes was the comprehensive zoning package passed by the City Council. It made it easier to convert office buildings into apartments by changing the latest date for the process to be streamlined from 1961 to 1990.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0New York state agency overtime costs increased 10% in 2024, comptroller says<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Overtime costs at New York state agencies increased 10.2% in 2024, totaling $1.3 billion, according to a\u00a0report released today by state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.<\/p>\n

The report said overtime hours also increased by 7.8%, or 1.8 million hours higher, than the previous year. This is the eighth consecutive year of increases.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0What’s in the Republican bill cutting $9 billion from public broadcasting and foreign aid<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

The Republican-led Congress has\u00a0passed President Donald Trump’s request to claw back about $9 billion\u00a0in public broadcasting and foreign aid spending.<\/p>\n

Trump’s Republican administration is employing a rarely used tool that allows the president to transmit a request to cancel previously approved funding authority. Democrats tried to kill the measure but needed more Republicans uncomfortable with the president’s effort to join them.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Affordable Care Act premiums will increase by a median of 15% in 2026, KFF says<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

People who receive their health insurance through the Affordable Care Act could be facing higher premiums next year.<\/p>\n

Premiums for the health insurance marketplace are expected to rise by a median of 15% in 2026, according to an analysis from KFF released today. It would be the largest premium increase for the program since 2018.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0Trump faces Epstein scrutiny as Wall Street Journal reports on 2003 letter<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

The controversy over President Donald Trump ‘s handling of records from the Jeffrey Epstein investigation entered a new dimension Thursday as his administration struggles to make good on its promises to release details on the sex trafficking case involving a one-time friend of the now-president.<\/p>\n

Trump promised a lawsuit after The Wall Street Journal described a sexually suggestive letter that the newspaper says bore Trump’s name and was included in a 2003 album for Epstein’s 50th birthday. Trump denied writing the letter, calling it “false, malicious, and defamatory.”<\/p>\n

NY1\u2019s “Finding Home” segment features animals up for adoption around the five boroughs.<\/p>\n

Among the pets up for adoption at Animal Care Centers of NYC is a sweet 2-year-old pup named Potato. Potato is still a little shy about the world around her, but when she warms up, she can be quite affectionate. She is great on a leash.<\/p>\n
