(WCAX) &#8211; A death investigation is underway in New York after police say they found a man strangled to death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Just before 8 on Saturday night, New York state police responded to a home on Route 9B in Champlain for a reported death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">When they arrived, they found the body of 63-year-old John Murphy on a couch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">On Monday, Murphy\u2019s death was confirmed to be due to strangulation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">New York State Police are asking those in the area for information and security footage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This is an ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WCAX.
