Click here to watch<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The plan was in response to an order from the Trump administration to improve safety for riders following multiple high-profile crimes on the CTA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The union representing the guards confirmed that on Friday, the CTA laid off 159 members employed by Monterrey Security.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \"><strong class=\"vtkaO \">SEE ALSO | <\/strong><a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/abc7chicago.com\/post\/marquettia-johnson-wife-cta-pink-line-shooting-victim-raymond-harrison-calls-more-security\/18858134\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wife of CTA shooting victim calls for more security: &#8216;Raymond didn&#8217;t choose to be murdered&#8217;<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The CTA released a statement, saying the funding will instead be directed to sworn police officers and other security resources.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">&#8220;The CTA is strategically strengthening system security by expanding police presence, K-9 units, and crisis response initiatives.
