{"id":74774,"date":"2025-07-19T07:11:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-19T07:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/74774\/"},"modified":"2025-07-19T07:11:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-19T07:11:09","slug":"chris-gotterup-is-more-than-a-british-open-dark-horse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/74774\/","title":{"rendered":"Chris Gotterup is more than a British Open dark horse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PORTRUSH, Northern Ireland \u2014 Lee Westwood is, as a former world No. 1 and a player who\u2019s finished in the top five of 12 major championships, a pretty good judge of talent.<\/p>\n<p>And after playing the past two days alongside Chris Gotterup, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/15\/sports\/british-open-the-first-of-many-golf-changes-for-chris-gotterup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pride of the Jersey Shore<\/a> as a native of Little Silver, N.J., Westwood came away \u201creally impressed.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d say over the last couple of weeks with the [Open] qualifying and then the practice rounds and then playing with Chris today, I\u2019ve seen some really good young talent in the qualifying,\u2019\u2019 Westwood said. \u201cThere\u2019s so many good young players about now, but they\u2019ve come through the qualifying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, Chris is a different kettle of fish,\u2019\u2019 Westwood went on. \u201cHe\u2019s got very impressive game. The way he penetrates the ball and plays off this links turf, it\u2019s ideal for links play.
