It averaged 5.98% just before the \u2060U.S. and Israel attacked Iran at the end of February as Freddie Mac and \u200bFannie Mae \u200bexpanded purchases of \u200bmortgage-backed securities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The rate \u200cshot up to an average of 6.46% at the beginning of April. Mortgage rates track U.S. Treasuries, which have largely been range-bound amid lingering uncertainty over the \u200ctruce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Trump on Tuesday indefinitely \u200bextended the ceasefire with \u200bIran, though \u200ba U.S. Navy blockade of \u200cIranian ports remained in \u200beffect.
