A man was arrested in New York City in connection to a deadly shooting that happened in New Jersey earlier this month, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. <\/p>\n
Officers with the Gloucester Township Police Department were called to the Lakeview Apartments on the 500 block of Lower Landing Road on Wednesday, July 9 around 5 p.m. for reports of a person shot, police said. <\/p>\n
When the officers got the apartment complex, they found Anthony Sanflippo, 53, in the doorway to his apartment killed by a gunshot wound, according to police. <\/p>\n
Detectives found a .45 caliber shell casing at the scene, police explained. <\/p>\n
A witness told officials that the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Matthew Lucas, had taken their car, according to police. He was described as wearing green pants, a black surgical mask and a head garment with tassels. <\/p>\n
Less than a week later, officers with the New York City Police Department found the reported stolen car on West 49th Street in Manhattan, officials explained. <\/p>\n
Lucas was ultimately arrested for a different crime just one block away from where the car was found, police said. He was found with the key to the stolen car and a .45 caliber gun on him. <\/p>\n
The shell casing found at the apartment complex was tested and was a match to the gun Lucas had on him in New York, officials said. <\/p>\n
Investigators reported that they found green pants in the stolen car that appeared to have blood on them. <\/p>\n
Lucas is currently being held at Rikers Island and will be extradited to New Jersey. <\/p>\n
