Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow shared that his father, Bob, died Thursday.<\/p>\n

He was 78. <\/p>\n

Tebow, who revealed his dad\u2019s battle with Parkinson\u2019s disease<\/a> in November 2016, did not share a cause of death in an Instagram carousel post Friday, which included photos of his family.<\/p>\n

\u201cHeaven ushered in a hero of the faith last night as my Dad was welcomed home!\u201d Tebow wrote. \u201cMany will say sorry for your loss but the truth is he\u2019s not lost, we know exactly where he is. He\u2019s home. Forever!<\/p>\n

\u201cI asked him last week what he looked forward to most about Heaven, and he simply said, \u2018Jesus,\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cHe couldn\u2019t wait to see Jesus face to face. Praise God that his wait is over. Death has been swallowed up in victory. He\u2019s healed and whole now. So we don\u2019t mourn as those with no hope. See you soon Dad!\u201d <\/p>\n

Tebow also shared photos of some milestone moments with his family.<\/p>\n

One image showed Tebow pushing his dad in a wheelchair while at his and now-wife Demi Leigh\u2019s wedding<\/a> in January 2020.<\/p>\n

Another snapshot showed the pair announcing Demi\u2019s pregnancy to his parents, Bob and Pam. <\/p>\n

Demi, who gave birth to the couple\u2019s daughter, Daphne Reign, last July,\u00a0shared an emotional message in a separate Instagram post, which included more family photos.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t get to know the big, strong, tough, character-building man so many speak of,\u201d Demi wrote. \u201cI got to know the gentle grandpa\u2026 the one who loved ice cream, a good laugh and never met a dog he didn\u2019t like (and who was far too easy on me for marrying his youngest son \u2013 for that I\u2019m thankful)<\/p>\n

\u201cI am grateful for the man who raised the love of my life. The man who shaped him to be strong yet humble, courageous yet kind, bold yet deeply compassionate\u2026 a protector, a leader, and above all, a man who loves God and loves people well.\u201d <\/p>\n

Demi, who was Miss Universe in 2017, thanked Bob for the effect he had on many.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know heaven is rejoicing as he is welcomed into his forever home\u2026 but on this side of heaven, the emptiness is real, and it is heavy,\u201d she continued. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe will miss him. And we will do our best to carry forward the legacy he lived so faithfully.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Tebow, Thank you for the extraordinary, bold and faithful life you lived and the significant impact you had on countless lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tebow pursued a career in broadcasting after his NFL career, and also spent multiple seasons in the New York Mets organization.<\/p>\n
