Amanda Anisimova has been forced to make some big decisions after her run to the Wimbledon final.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anisimova beat the likes of Aryna Sabalenka<\/a> to reach her first Grand Slam final at 23 years old.<\/p>\n

However, the final did not go anywhere near how she would have liked, with Anisimova being thrashed by Iga Swiatek<\/a> in a match where she did not win a single game.<\/p>\n

After an emotional post-match speech, Anisimova will now be preparing for the US Open<\/a> and has already made a decision about an upcoming WTA<\/a> tournament.<\/p>\n

Anisimova, who is now the world number seven<\/a>, was scheduled to play three North American hard court tournaments before the US Open<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n

The first of those was the upcoming Washington Open, the tournament Anisimova was advised not to play<\/a> and instead take longer to reflect on her Wimbledon<\/a> run.<\/p>\n

Anisimova<\/a> came through qualifying to reach the quarterfinals at the tournament in Washington D.C. in 2024.<\/p>\n

However, she has now decided to follow advice from outsiders and withdraw from the WTA 500 event.<\/p>\n

Anisimova would have been the second seed behind Jessica Pegula<\/a>, but she has now been replaced by Australian teenage star Maya Joint<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Wimbledon finalist is not the only big name to withdraw from the Washington Open, with Qinwen Zheng<\/a> and Paula Badosa also pulling out<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What is next for Amanda Anisimova?<\/p>\n

Due to Anisimova\u2019s Washington withdrawal, she is now confirmed to drop 133 ranking points from her quarterfinal run last year.<\/p>\n

She also has a significant number of ranking points to defend at the Canadian Open, where Anisimova lost to Pegula in the final<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Anisimova lost in the first round of the US Open last year, and did not compete in Cincinnati at all.<\/p>\n

This should give the American an opportunity to make even more gains on her ranking, particularly as the draw may be kinder this year due to her seeded ranking.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
