Here\u2019s where we are: Congress has voted to end Corporation for Public Broadcasting grants that have supplied one-third of KRVS\u2019 annual revenue. Since the White House executive order in May that urged the withdrawal of already allocated federal funding for public radio and TV, we\u2019ve kept you current with developments.<\/p>\n
Over months and years, so many of you have stood with this station. We can\u2019t thank you enough!<\/p>\n
With your generous contributions, we\u2019re in the process of starting the KRVS Future Fund endowment through the UL Lafayette Foundation. It\u2019s our declaration that Radio Acadie does, indeed, have a future.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, the loss of close to $200,000 a year in federal grants will mean that listener and philanthropic money will play an increasingly important role in maintaining daily operations at KRVS. You\u2019ll hear appeals for financial support during regular broadcasts and membership drives in the Fall and Spring. You\u2019ll also hear fewer national programs and more local and live productions on weekends and weeknights.<\/p>\n
That said, we remain committed to offering thoughtful public affairs programs about our region, national and international news, and the best of Southwest Louisiana\u2019s culture. Like the generations who lived here before us, we’ll continue to create beauty, nourishment and joy with the resources we have.<\/p>\n
