Somewhere in the altercation one of the children stabbed her in the chest area, police said.

There is no arraignment information listed on courts paperwork on the charges. It is unclear when there would be an arraignment. Police did not say where the children were.

Township police Superintendent Timothy M. Bernhardt said, “It is deeply troubling that a child was subjected to such abuse by the very person responsible for their care and safety. The fact that the child felt their only option was to defend themselves against a parent is sad and heartbreaking.

“No child should ever have to live in fear or endure that kind of harm. We have made it our priority to ensure the child and the other siblings receive the support and resources they need to begin healing and to restore some sense of normalcy in their daily lives moving forward.

“As for the mother, she has been charged and will be held accountable. Children are off limits. There is no excuse and no exception when it comes to harming a defenseless child. I am confident the courts will hold her fully accountable for these reprehensible actions.”

According to the arrest affidavit:

On March 20 shortly before midnight units were sent to the address for a report of a suspicious condition.

Officers met with the caller who stated he was flagged down by a 10-year-old female in the parking lot who requested he contact the police.

The caller stated the girl advised she ran away from her apartment because her mother was hitting her and her 6-year-old brother.

Officers were unable to locate the boy.

Officers approached the apartment building and saw a woman leaving a ground floor apartment via a sliding glass door.

Officers made contact with Bines-Campbell who appeared to be heavily intoxicated. Officers observed Bines-Campbell falling over as she attempted to walk and rambling as she attempted to speak.

Officers determined that Bines-Campbell was exiting from the apartment where the two above-mentioned children stated they resided.

Bines-Campbell stated she had a problem inside of the apartment and confirmed she had a 10-year-old daughter but never acknowledged any other children. Officers learned that she had two other children and all three of the children were missing at that time.

While on location, radio dispatchers advised that the 10-year-old daughter was at the Wawa at 19 N. Bishop Ave.

Officers responded to the Wawa and located the 10-year-old daughter and her 13-year-old sister, then went back to the apartment.

Officers observed blood on Bines-Campbell’s shirt and when she was questioned about the blood, she unzipped her shirt, which revealed a stab wound to the right side of her chest area. The mother stated that she couldn’t remember how she was stabbed.

She did tell officers that when they got back from the water park, they all were involved in an argument and physical altercation.

The medics responded to the scene to evaluate Bines-Campbell’s injury, and she was then transported to a hospital.

A 6-year-old son was found inside of Bines-Campbell’s parked vehicle with facial injuries. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries and the girls were taken to police headquarters to give statements about the incident.

Some of the other details from their statements were that their mother had been drinking alcohol at the water park, her vehicle struck two other vehicles as the were leaving that parking lot, and that after the girls had fled the residence the mother was enraged and choked the boy to the point that he couldn’t breathe or speak, and punched him in the nose and mouth.

He attempted to run away, but his mother grabbed him and punched him in the head. At some point he did get away and was found later by police in his mother’s car.

An Upper Darby mother has been arrested on charges of physical abuse of her three children, ages 13,…

[5132
5229,5295,7282,728,50,1448,2830,1311,11104,67,586,132,5230,40121,68,2969
post-752782","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-philadelphia","tag-america","tag-crime-and-public-safety","tag-delaware-county","tag-local-news","tag-news","tag-pa","tag-pennsylvania","tag-philadelphia","tag-top-stories-dtd","tag-united-states","tag-united-states-of-america","tag-unitedstates","tag-unitedstatesofamerica","tag-upper-darby-township","tag-us","tag-usa
["GET
