{"id":753493,"date":"2026-04-26T02:48:21","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T02:48:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/753493\/"},"modified":"2026-04-26T02:48:21","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T02:48:21","slug":"cat-and-dog-miracle-drone-rescue-in-war-torn-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/753493\/","title":{"rendered":"Cat and dog miracle drone rescue in war-torn Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A dog and cat who found themselves stranded on the front lines in war-torn Ukraine didn\u2019t have to claw their way to safety \u2014 instead, they got a ride to safety via a drone, according to a report.<\/p>\n<p>The soldiers of <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/14th-mechanized-brigade\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ukraine\u2019s 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade <\/a>used their expertise to airlift Barsik the cat and Zagybluk the dog away from the battlefield earlier this month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/04\/25\/europe\/ukraine-pet-rescue-drones-frontline-intl-cmd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">reported CNN World News.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The four-legged fighters were regulars around the troops, who had grown close to them, so when they needed to be evacuated the military swung into action.<\/p>\n<p>Barsik the cat is safe again after being evacuated from a dangerous spot by a drone operated by the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade. 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe guys put them in special breathable pouches, carefully tied them to a drone, and evacuated them,\u201d Nadiya Zamryga, the brigade\u2019s press officer, told CNN.<\/p>\n<p>The operation required special skills from the drone pilot, who had to fly the animals for about 10 kilometers \u2014 about 6.2 miles \u2014 before landing in a \u201cgentle\u201d way, she said.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, both Barsik and Zagybluk got happy endings after their harrowing ordeals.<\/p>\n<p>Barsik was recognized by his \u201ccat dad,\u201d a soldier who had been wounded and is now recovering, and they\u2019re about to reunite.<\/p>\n<p>A Ukrainian serviceman pets a cat at his position in a trench at a front line in Sumy region in Ukraine. REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>As for Zagybluk, he\u2019s decided to take up with the troops \u2014 at a rear position \u2014 where he\u2019s loving life with his new soldier companions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe stress from the drone flight passed very quickly. These animals have been with the guys for two years and they\u2019re not willing to give up their comrade,\u201d said Zamryga.<\/p>\n<p>Barsik and Zagybluk were the lucky ones.<\/p>\n<p>Zagybluk the dog is now happily living with the soldiers way, way behind the lines after he had to be evacuated from danger. 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/03\/06\/ukrainian-pets-animals-rescued-amid-russian-violence\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">number of animals left behind <\/a>during the non-stop destruction of cities and towns has been staggering.
