INDIANAPOLIS \u2014 Liberty guard Natasha Cloud was crowned this year\u2019s WNBA All-Star Skills Challenge champion Friday and promised her Liberty teammate and girlfriend a house.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Cloud bested a field of five in the first round after clocking in at 34.1 seconds. In the finals, she beat Erica Wheeler by 1.1 seconds to win the $57,575 prize.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Cloud had wanted to participate in last year\u2019s Skills Challenge in Phoenix, but never received an invite. She was determined to get the call this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Cloud said Friday\u2019s win further validated that she\u2019s one of the league\u2019s most skillful guards.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m meant to be here, meant to be on this level,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m confident in who I am, I know who I am, whether I get the flowers or not.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Before the competition, which features an obstacle course that tests a player\u2019s passing precision and shooting, Isabelle Harrison told Cloud she needed to win so they could put a down payment on a house.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why while other WNBA players spent Thursday night partying, Cloud was tucked away in bed sleeping.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was serious for me,\u201d Cloud said. \u201cI came with a goal.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Immediately after being presented her glass trophy, Cloud gushed about Harrison and how fortunate they are to have landed in New York together.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She also told Harrison she planned to make good on her promise as she announced to the Gainbridge Fieldhouse crowd, \u201cYou\u2019re gonna get that house.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really thankful for where our journeys have brought us and our careers brought us and this is just the next step,\u201d Cloud added. \u201cSo yeah, this is going to be money well spent.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cloud also gave a shoutout to her parents, who couldn\u2019t make the trip to Indianapolis to watch her.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cMom and dad, I love you all so much,\u201d she said. \u201cThis is for y\u2019all. This award should\u2019ve came a long time ago, but I got you 10 years in.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
As Cloud walked out of her post-event press conference, she cuddled her trophy like a baby and said, \u201cThis is going to sleep in my bed with me tonight.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
