{"id":754986,"date":"2026-04-26T19:11:38","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T19:11:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/754986\/"},"modified":"2026-04-26T19:11:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T19:11:38","slug":"yankees-aaron-boone-spoke-to-alex-cora-after-red-sox-firing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/754986\/","title":{"rendered":"Yankees&#8217; Aaron Boone spoke to Alex Cora after Red Sox firing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HOUSTON \u2014 In the aftermath of the Red Sox\u2019s Saturday night bloodbath, Aaron Boone spoke with his good friend <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/26\/sports\/yankees-aaron-boone-reacts-to-red-sox-firing-alex-cora\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">and now-former counterpart, Alex Cora<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Boone did not divulge the specifics of his conversation, after Cora and five of his coaches <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/25\/sports\/red-sox-fire-alex-cora-four-members-of-coaching-staff\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">were stunningly fired after a win in Baltimore<\/a>, the Yankees manager called it a \u201creally good talk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think somebody of Alex\u2019s stature in the game, and obviously being a division rival and our chief rival, obviously caught us all off guard, shook the world \u2014 or shook us a little bit, like, \u2018Who saw that kind of shakeup coming at this point?\u2019\u201d Boone said Sunday morning at Daikin Park, after having some time to digest the news that came out just before first pitch here Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s going to be fine and great. Jason Szenes for the New York Post<\/p>\n<p>Former Red Sox great Jason Varitek, who was serving as the club\u2019s game planning and run prevention coach, was also \u201creassigned\u201d to a to be determined role in the organization.<\/p>\n<p>The Yankees may have had at least a partial hand in the gutting of the Red Sox coaching staff after sweeping them in Boston earlier this week.
