{"id":755735,"date":"2026-04-27T03:03:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T03:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/755735\/"},"modified":"2026-04-27T03:03:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T03:03:14","slug":"swansea-bushfire-moves-towards-dolphin-sands-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/755735\/","title":{"rendered":"Swansea bushfire moves towards Dolphin Sands community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>About 30 firefighters have returned to battle a bushfire near Swansea for another day.<\/p>\n<p>The TFS reported conditions are favourable this morning and would support firefighting efforts on McNeills Rd, Swansea.<\/p>\n<p>The said aircraft and earthmoving machinery would be used to assist work to strengthen and consolidate containment lines around the fire perimeter.<\/p>\n<p>McNeills Rd remains closed to the public.<\/p>\n<p>A bushfire advice warning is in place for McNeills Rd, Swansea to monitor conditions.<\/p>\n<p>A bushfire smoke alert is also current for Dolphin Sands, Cambria Drive, to avoid smoke as of 9.30am.<\/p>\n<p>TFS Acting District Officer Brendan Plummer said the fire was first reported about 5pm on Thursday with local crews responding quickly to contain it.<\/p>\n<p>He said the fire\u2019s northern edge flared up on Sunday following changing wind conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fire has burnt through 1030 hectares, with no impact to structures,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile there is currently no immediate threat to property, conditions can change and the TFS encourages the community to remain vigilant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Acting District Officer Plummer said the cause of the fire remained under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Smoke, ash and embers are expected to remain visible in the area.<\/p>\n<p>People travelling nearby should do so carefully if driving in smoke.<\/p>\n<p>For the latest conditions visit <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/alert.tas.gov.au\/\" title=\"alert.tas.gov.au\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tasalert.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday:<\/b> Residents at Dolphin Sands have been told to take action now as a bushfire burning near Swansea moves toward the coastal community.<\/p>\n<p>The Tasmania Fire Service on Sunday issued a Watch and Act warning for Dolphin Sands, including Cambria Drive, after a fire broke out at McNeills Road, Swansea.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities said the fire was travelling east towards Dolphin Sands and was expected to impact the area by 12.40pm.<\/p>\n<p>The fire service warned the blaze was expected to be difficult to control, with embers, smoke and ash likely to threaten homes and residents before the main fire front arrived.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTake action now to protect yourself, your family, and your home,\u201d the warning said.<\/p>\n<p>Residents have been urged to check their bushfire plans immediately and decide early whether they will leave, ensuring they have a clear path to a safer place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you are not prepared for a bushfire, be ready to leave for a safer place,\u201d authorities said. \u201cIf you stay, your home may not be defendable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>People have also been warned to travel only if it is safe to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a separate Bushfire Advice remains in place for McNeills Road, Swansea.<\/p>\n<p>The advice warning states there is currently no immediate threat, but the fire is travelling towards Swansea and conditions are expected to remain changeable.<\/p>\n<p>Residents in the area have been urged to continue monitoring conditions and review their bushfire survival plans.<\/p>\n<p>The Tasmania Fire Service said well-prepared homes were expected to be defendable under the current conditions, but anyone not properly prepared should consider relocating to a safer place if the situation worsens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf your plan is to leave, the best option is to stay with family or friends,\u201d the advice said.<\/p>\n<p>Fire crews remain at the scene battling the blaze.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"About 30 firefighters have returned to battle a bushfire near Swansea for another day.
