CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police said a man is now facing charges after a UPS driver was found shot to death last month on the South Side.<\/p>\n

The victim’s family said he was trying to track down his stolen truck when he was killed.<\/p>\n

Michael Hunter, 36, was found shot in the head<\/a> in the early morning of March 22 in the 8000-block of South Hermitage Avenue in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, police said.<\/p>\n

Chicago police said he died on the scene.<\/p>\n

A suspect, 37-year-old Xavier Wilson of Chicago, was arrested Friday, Chicago police said. He has been charged with first-degree murder.<\/p>\n

Wilson is accused of fatally shooting Hunter, CPD said.<\/p>\n

Police did not immediately provide any additional information on what led up to the fatal shooting.<\/p>\n

Hunter’s family demanded justice from the site of his death last month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They had been offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. The family said Hunter was their world.<\/p>\n

“He was a provider; whenever you called, he was there,” sister Tori O’Hearn said.<\/p>\n

Hunter was a father of three. He and his fianc\u00e9e had recently bought a home together on the far South Side.<\/p>\n

“I thought he would see me graduate and walk the stage,” stepdaughter Brooklyn Nailer said.<\/p>\n

“Michael meant everything to me; Michael was my heart, my soul,” his fianc\u00e9e Ryan Mitchell said.<\/p>\n

Hunter’s father tearfully explained he and his son were partners, and drove long-haul trucks for UPS, splitting the driving time.<\/p>\n

“They took my son, my driving partner,” Michael Hunter Sr. said.<\/p>\n

His family said they found Hunter’s stolen truck the next day 3 miles away.<\/p>\n

His family said Hunter grew up in Auburn Gresham, and he had many friends and family in the area. He had just visited his mom when his truck went missing, and he was shot.<\/p>\n
