Phoenix Children\u2019s, one of the nation\u2019s fastest-growing pediatric healthcare systems, unveiled John Nickens IV was appointed as its next President and CEO, following the planned retirement of long-serving incumbent, Robert Meyer.<\/p>\n
Nickens will assume leadership of the organization no later than Oct. 1, bringing with him a proven track record of growth, expertise in academic medical partnerships and a drive for building culture-first organizations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He currently serves as Corporate President of Hospitals and CEO of University Medical Center (UMC) for LCMC Health, a large regional health system based in New Orleans.<\/p>\n
Honoring a\u00a0<\/strong>Transformational Leader<\/strong><\/p>\n Meyer, who led Phoenix Children\u2019s for more than 23 years, retires as a respected and impactful leader in the pediatric healthcare industry. Under his guidance, Phoenix Children\u2019s grew from a \u201chospital-within-a-hospital\u201d into a nationally recognized pediatric health system with more than 8,000 employees and 75 subspecialties.
