{"id":75737,"date":"2025-07-19T15:52:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-19T15:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/75737\/"},"modified":"2025-07-19T15:52:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-19T15:52:12","slug":"nickens-named-phoenix-childrens-president-news-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/75737\/","title":{"rendered":"Nickens named Phoenix Children\u2019s president | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Phoenix Children\u2019s, one of the nation\u2019s fastest-growing pediatric healthcare systems, unveiled John Nickens IV was appointed as its next President and CEO, following the planned retirement of long-serving incumbent, Robert Meyer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Nickens will assume leadership of the organization no later than Oct. 1, bringing with him a proven track record of growth, expertise in academic medical partnerships and a drive for building culture-first organizations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">He currently serves as Corporate President of Hospitals and CEO of University Medical Center (UMC) for LCMC Health, a large regional health system based in New Orleans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><strong>Honoring a\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Transformational Leader<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Meyer, who led Phoenix Children\u2019s for more than 23 years, retires as a respected and impactful leader in the pediatric healthcare industry. Under his guidance, Phoenix Children\u2019s grew from a \u201chospital-within-a-hospital\u201d into a nationally recognized pediatric health system with more than 8,000 employees and 75 subspecialties. His commitment to expanding access to care for Arizona\u2019s families, along with continued investment in innovation have positioned Phoenix Children\u2019s as a leader among children\u2019s hospitals nationwide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cLeading Phoenix Children\u2019s has been the honor of my lifetime,\u201d Meyer said. \u201cTogether, alongside our clinical teams, leaders, partners and donors, we\u2019ve built something truly special for our community.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cI\u2019ve had the privilege of knowing and working alongside John in pediatric healthcare, and I am confident that he is the right person to lead Phoenix Children\u2019s into its next chapter.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><strong>A Strong Future for\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Pediatric Healthcare in Arizona<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Nickens brings a wealth of experience from some of the country\u2019s top academic medical centers, including Texas Children\u2019s, Baylor College of Medicine, and, most recently, LCMC Health, where he works closely with Louisiana State University and Tulane University. In Louisiana, he built a state-wide network of pediatric care and launched one of the country\u2019s largest freestanding pediatric behavioral health hospitals in 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cPhoenix Children\u2019s is one of the nation\u2019s premier pediatric health systems and I\u2019m looking forward to amplifying the culture of excellence that Bob and his leadership team have built,\u201d said Nickens. \u201cI\u2019m also eager to broaden the health system\u2019s academic partnerships as we collaborate to train the next generation of clinicians our country needs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cWhat ultimately drew my family and me to this incredible opportunity, and what has been at the heart of my career, are the kids.
